Poetry Corner

This is the page where you can find poems about dragons as written by the members of the society. Actually, it was a member who came up with the idea for this page! Since I volunteered to set up this page, I have also volunteered the first poem.

The Colour of the Scales
------------------------

If you could be a dragon,
for certainly you must've dreamt of it,
what colour scales would you have?
I think mine would be a brilliant silver,
shining gloriously in the high-noon sun,
glistening at night,
challenging the Full Moon's light.

Or perhaps my scales would change colours...
... green during the day and midnight-blue come night.
My eyes would be silver.
In day-time, my emerald scales would resemble leaves of trees
and the underbrush beneath them. My eyes like morning dew.
At night, my prussian blue scales would blend with the sky,
my eyes glistened and twinkling like the many stars above.
At sunrise and sunset, my scales would change their hue.

Yet, what about you? What colour would you choose?
... Red? ... White? ... Earth-tone?
Or maybe you'd be a more eccentric plaid or polka dots?
I've met a few dragons like that.
... Ebony? ... Fuschia? ... Lapis?
Perhaps oak or sequoia would be more to your liking.

I have thought long and hard
about which colour I would be.
I really can't decide
so could you please help me?

Scaled Spectrum
---------------

A shower of color
Sweet rainbow juice
Reflected from sunshine
A pane of stained glass
Dripping steadily
Rich in red
Deep in blue
And the shades between
Like a prism three fold
In liquid form
Dripping, falling, raining
Like teardrops
Of a spectrum

Chaos(x) Shadowtalon

Disturbance in the great slumber
--------------------------------

An ancient mind awakens
Roused by unerring time
Rising up on all fours
To begin the ascending climb

Monstrous jaws agape
The beast bellows out
Signaling its return
No remaining doubt

The earth now trembles
Footfalls jar the ground
Wings stretch and expand
To the land, not bound

Flying through the sky
From mountain tip to tip
Eyes shine with intelligence
A snarl upon its lip

Things have now changed
Desecrated, its home
The revenge to be wrought
No longer will it roam

Flames and death erupt
Buildings reduced to rubble
Little resistance is held
The artificial begins to crumble

Souls are now sent back
To whenst they once came
Marked by the beast
And its unknown name

Natural, reborn
Home once again
Completely unknowing
How long it had been

Chaos(x) Shadowtalon

"Moonshimmer"
-------------

She glides through the calm night air
Sails through the star speckled sky
Becomes one with that of the night
And it's sensual peace
Ending the hardships of the day
She is of the moon, it is her name
A slender sliver of the sky
That I cherish ever so dearly

Her warmth brings me ever so close
From the dark and empty void around me
Where embers burn no more
And light perishes forever more
I accept her embrace of love
The warmth a familiar sensation
One that my own ember burns so bright for
To rejoin the light and add myself
My colors to hers that blend together
And unite with the warmth and light
That of which is the soul

I can see her in my dreams
A simple shape in the sky
The night canvas her guise
As she floats about my mind
A lengthy tail, richly azure
Caresses the sky about her
And me, if she drifts close
So I may also feel her breath
The warmth that makes me burn
Burn so strongly for her
As she soars through my dreams
And hides in my bright reality
Which compels me to sleep
So we may finally unite

Sanguis Draco Maskim
--------------------

I am the Sanguis found within
Filling the form up to the brim
Vitality essence to the being
Always known of, but never seeing

I am the Draco resting deep
In my lair the secrets I keep
Climbing out in time to wake
An endless thirst I cannot slake

I am the Maskim guarding above
Inane to either hate or love
Gateway to the spheres, all seven
Against you and all your brethren

Sanguis serpent sordid shale
Obsidian blades to tip my tail
Wanton nothing, never enough
With age and war the flesh is tough

Ageless amber eyes adjust
Lacking love, lacking trust
Solitude sliding into submission
Unknown, an endless continuum

"Coils"
-------

Sinewy tails twine round,
Grasp and tighten in union
Coil and twist,
Dance and play,
Ending the interlude,
A final embrace
That of love expressed

Chaos(x) Shadowtalon

Tranquility
-----------

Somewhere dark and warm
Where I can curl up against the world
Somewhere dark and warm
Where I can sleep away the light of day
Somewhere dark and warm
Where my fear melts to comfort
Somewhere dark and warm
Where my mate may lie waiting

A place where I can close my eyes
And not have to worry of the time
A place where I can find strength
A place where I can find love
